General Information
In the Spring NVLG chooses players for its Select Teams at the U11-U18 Age-Levels, in part based on an evaluation camps process.  Camps usually last between 2-4 nights depending on your age-level and the number of player registrations for the camps.  It is important to be informed regarding this process and what is expected of a Select Player.

In order to be eligible to attend evaluation camps for an NVLG Select team, a player must be registered to play for NVLG for next season and must not be registered in any other club.  A player may not register with NVLG on the condition of being accepted onto a select team. Players not chosen for a Select Team will be placed on house teams for the season.

Players must attend evaluation camps every season.  Being accepted onto a select team one season does not guarantee acceptance onto a select team the following season.  If you do plan on attending the camps, we strongly recommend that you discuss this with your coach.

Only players who wish to play on a select team need to attend the camps.  The club has non-select (house) teams as well that play in both the silver and bronze divisions which have several levels in each division. We recommend that all players planning on attending the camps familiarize themselves with our Select Team Program, Select Team Policy and Select Player Commitment which can all be found on our website at: www.lionsgatesoccer.com and click “Evaluation Camp Information” in the left column.

However, should you decide to attend the evaluation camps, please make note that being a member of a select team does require a greater time commitment.  There are a minimum of two weekly practices along with your weekly league game. In many cases, select teams hold additional practices, extra development sessions and exhibition games.  Select players should also be available for all cup competition and any tournaments your team may enter throughout the season. Please read the Select Player Commitment section (see above). A “Letter of Commitment” detailing the criteria & expectations of being a select team member will be distributed to all those who attend the tryouts. For all those players that make a select team, this letter must be completed and returned to your coach.

If you have any questions, please contact your Age Group Coordinator

    • 2009 NVLGSA Select Team Program
        ▲Top

Most soccer clubs organize select teams as their lead representatives in inter-club competition. The North Vancouver Lions Gate Soccer Association "NVLGSA" is one of the largest clubs in the province and offers players the opportunity to play on teams at all levels of play, so that they can be appropriately challenged and enabled to develop as players. Players can and do move from one level to another as they grow and as they acquire skills at their own individual rates.
Being selected to a select team depends on both the player's technical skill and his ability to participate effectively as a team member. The selection process takes place after the end of regular season play and is open to all age-level players. Select teams are organized for the U-12 through U-18 age levels. At U11, NVLGSA forms a small number of "development" teams to play in the 4District U11 program. When we form more than 1 of these, they are of even strength (unlike "select" teams that are tiered), according to 4District guidelines.

NVLGSA typically has up to 3 select teams known as Capilano, Burrard and Lions for U12 to U-18. The Capilanos are formed as the most competitive select team followed by the Burrards, and if warranted the Lions. These team names are reserved for the Club’s select gold and silver teams. The names were chosen in recognition of the First Nations heritage of our community. 'Capilano' and 'Burrard' are names strongly associated with our neighbourhood and remind us of Chief Joseph Capilano of the Squamish nation and the Burrard band. Chief Capilano was the first West Coast chief to travel to England and was a staunch supporter of his people’s rights. Tsleil-Waututh, as the Burrard are also known, means ‘people of the inlet’. The ‘Lions' are simply named after the famous and magnificent ‘Lions’ seen on the North Shore mountains.
Development teams in U-11 (playing 8v8 rather than 11v11) generally do not carry the Capilano/Burrard/Lions names.

NVLGSA requires the U-13 to U-18 select teams to enter Provincial A Cup or Provincial B Cup competition, the highest levels of competition for youth soccer in BC, to seek Provincial Championship status on behalf of the Club.

      Good luck to all participants.

      2009 Streamed Team Policy (U11)
        ▲Top

      Introduction:
Streamed teams are a new concept for the North Vancouver Lions Gate Soccer Association “NVLGSA” for the 2007/2008 season and it only applies to the U-11 age level players.
The streamed team concept borrows it ideology from the select program that affects the U-12 to U-18 age levels. Streamed teams are teams formed for 4 District Soccer League “4D” competition using the Super 8 format. The teams are ideally comprised of roughly the top 30% of players in a soccer club in 4D. Unlike the select program however, there are no cup tournaments, no scores or standings are posted. The evaluation process is open to all NVLGSA U-11 players in hopes of qualifying for a streamed team. Streamed teams are balanced teams where like-minded players are grouped together where the focus is on player development.
It is expected that the NVLGSA shall normally form three streamed U-11 Super 8 teams for 4D play and if warranted up to two more teams may be formed. The NVLGSA names it streamed teams on a rotational basis after the great clubs of the world. The names are Santos, Ajax, Bayern, Boca & United.
      Good luck to all participants.
      Marek Hubicka
      Select Team Director
      Lions Gate Soccer Association
      Club Vision:
The North Vancouver Lions Gate Soccer Association "NVLGSA" has established a player evaluation policy which strives to allows it’s players to attempt to qualify for streamed teams in an environment that is open, honest, professional and transparent.
The evaluation process gives consideration to a player’s skill level, athletic ability, and playing ability. . A player and his parents/guardians should consider the attitude required as well as the time and effort commitment involved with a streamed team.
The NVLGSA has developed and continually evolves a streamed team policy and process that is sensitive to the development of competitive players. At the same time gives all NVLGSA players the opportunity, if they wish, to play at the highest level at which they are capable. Since the ultimate decision rests with the player we strongly encourage coaches, parents and players to consider the above statement before evaluation camps begin.
      Streamed Team Policy:
      1. Streamed Team Formation
Streamed teams are currently formed through an evaluation camp process.
Except under the following circumstances and as set out below:
Players wishing to participate in evaluation camps and who are unable to attend all of the sessions, must notify the executive in writing as soon as possible in advance of their evaluation camp date. The only acceptable excuses will be injury, illness, school or religious functions. An appropriate letter or note from a doctor, school principal, or a religious leader must accompany all such notifications.
A copy of the letter, or note, must be delivered to the Technical Director two (2) weeks prior to the commencement of the first evaluation camp date for the U-11 group.
Provided that the reason for non-attendance are acceptable, the Technical Director, one independent NVLGSA board member, and the NSSDC Head Coach will then decide on a proper method of evaluation. In the event that the Technical director has a conflict of interest with the age then the deputy technical director will step in to manage the process.
If no method of evaluation is available in that time frame, the player will not be placed on a streamed team. Injury and illness excuses will be accepted prior to and including the evaluation camp period.
The NVLGSA Board may place a player on a select team any time up to the deadline for transfer according to BCSA Rules (Rule 7 - Player Transfers), where exceptional circumstances exist. A player will only be placed on a team if that team has less than 14 players. NVLGSA Board may also require an independent evaluation of a player to determine the player’s level of play.
      2. Player Registration
In order to be eligible to compete for a position on a streamed NVLGSA soccer team, a player must be registered with NVLGSA and may not be concurrently registered with another soccer club. Every player must pay the evaluation camp fee. This fee must be paid prior to entering the field of play on the first day of evaluation camps.
      3. Eligible Age
The “U” in U-11 refers to “under”. U-11 is the under 11 year old player category in the first year of the season. A player may not be more than one year less in age than the category nor the same age or older than the category in the first year of the season. For example, a player with his 10th birthday in 2007 is eligible to participate in the U-11 evaluation camp for the 2007/2008 season in the NVLGSA.
All NVLGSA U-11 streamed teams shall play in the 4 District Soccer League. This league membership includes the North Shore, Vancouver, Burnaby and Richmond. North Shore teams can range as far as the Sunshine Coast and Whistler.
      4. Number of Streamed Teams
The NVLGSA board of directors determines the number of streamed teams to be formed for an age group for one season.
      Super 8 Format Teams:
The Super 8 format is new for the 2007/2008 season and involved a goalie and 7 field players for each team. NVLGSA may organize three streamed teams at the U-11 age level. When deemed viable by a team of independent evaluators, one or two more teams may be formed subject to approval by the board of directors. All streamed teams are expected to be able to perform at a streamed level comparable to other districts.
      5. Streamed Program Information Package and Fees
An information package, which also includes an evaluation camp invitation, and dates will be sent out to all registered players in February. An evaluation camp Pre-registration Form will also be sent at the same time. In order to cover costs associated with the evaluation camp process, there will be a fee for all players who attend evaluation camps. This fee shall be set at the November or December NVLGSA board meeting. This fee must be paid prior to the first day of evaluation camp.
      6. Streamed Team Camp Evaluators.
The NVLGSA board is responsible for approval of all streamed team camp evaluators.
The evaluator to player ratio shall ideally be 1 evaluator per 10-12 players.
The evaluation team may consist of:
      - 1/3 professional evaluators.
      - 1/3 independent evaluators from outside the club.
      - 1/3 evaluators are successful streamed team coach candidates or selected evaluators from different age groups within the NVLGSA.
The NVLGSA in cooperation with the North Shore Soccer Development Center (NSSDC) recommendations will recruit or hire independent evaluators for each age group.
Currently through the "club development" programs the NSSDC has the opportunity to evaluate the club coaches. The NSSDC endeavors to form a pool of up to 50 coaches from NVLGSA, Lynn Valley Soccer Club (LVSC) and North Shore Girls Soccer Club (NSGSC), it sees as following the general North Shore Soccer philosophy of player development. This pool would make itself available to all clubs to act as outside independent evaluators.
During the course of the season our soccer development partners at the NSSDC will have the benefit of working with all NVLGSA, LVSC and NSGSC club coaches through the "team development sessions". This provides the all the north shore clubs with a professional evaluation of it’s coaches, in particular the ones who show commitment and belief in working within the North Shores general philosophy of player development. The NSSDC will monitor coaches within the clubs and compile a list of coaches from all clubs who show competency in the player evaluation. This pool of evaluators will give LGSC the ability to draw competent coaches for its "independent evaluator" category.
Club officials, including Technical Directors, Deputy Technical Directors, Age Group Coordinators, Independent evaluators or otherwise shall not be deemed to have "a real or perceived conflict of interest" with the age group they are evaluating. The Technical Director will submit the list of qualified independent evaluators for board approval. Independent evaluators must hold a minimum of Community Senior Coaching certification and a minimum 5 years of related coaching experience. Every effort shall be made to recruit independent evaluators.
Under no circumstance shall independent evaluators come from one source.
Each Streamed Team Coach will have the option of carrying a 13th player if that selection is their son. This provision is necessary to ensure the best possible coaching candidate is selected.
      7. The Age Group Coordinators
The roles of Age Group Coordinators at streamed team evaluation camps.
If the Age Group Coordinator has a real or perceived conflict of interest within the group of players trying out, (such as a son or close relative) then they will be asked not to be involved with any on field activities, evaluations or player selection.
Drill coaches may be recruited from the parents or coaches of the age group of the participating players.
      8. Streamed Team Evaluation Camp Dates
U-11 initial evaluation camps should be completed by late March to early April.
Based on the Technical Director and NSSDC recommendation, the executive board will try to confirm actual dates in December. These dates will be included in the information packages sent to club players or may be available at this website.
The NVLGSA has the right to hold additional evaluation camps for any age group at any time if required by the NVLGSA board or British Columbia Soccer Association (BCSA).
      9. Evaluation Camp On Field Team
The evaluation camp on field team normally consists of the following:
      · Field Marshal – the Field Marshal shall coordinate the on field evaluation camp activities and coach eligible players throughout the evaluation camp process. The Field Marshal will be recruited form the Staff at NSSDC and may evaluate eligible players.
      · Assistant Field Marshal – shall assist the Field Marshal with on field activities, coach eligible players and work with the Drill Coaches to ensure that drills are properly executed. The Assistant Field Marshal may also be asked to evaluate and assess eligible players.
      · Head Evaluator – ensures that independent evaluators understand their role and adhere to the NVLGSA evaluation camp guidelines and rules. The Head Evaluator may also assess and evaluate eligible players.
      · Independent Evaluators - shall be responsible for assessing and evaluating eligible players, following streamed evaluation camp guidelines and rules. The Technical Director in conjunction with the NSSDC shall assign a minimum of three independent evaluators per age group.
      · Streamed Team Coaches - shall be responsible for assessing eligible players following evaluation guidelines and rules.
      · Drill Coaches – shall assist the Field Marshal with the set up and running of evaluation camp drills. Drill coaches shall demonstrate drills, skills and help coach eligible players. Drill coaches shall endeavor to give equal time and opportunity to all the eligible players for all activities.
      · The Age Group Coordinator - and recruited volunteers will register players and handle all administrative duties associated with the evaluation camp process.
      · The Technical Director or Deputy, Field Marshal or Independent Board Member or their Designate – shall oversee the evaluation camp process and ensure that all evaluation camp policies and processes are adhered to.
The evaluation guidelines and rules are explained to all the evaluators at the beginning of the evaluation camp.
      10. Streamed Team Player Selection Criteria
Player selection shall be based on the evaluation of each player’s skill level, athletic ability and playing ability. Player selection is not based on position except at the goalkeeper position. Voluntary goalkeeper assessments are a part of the evaluation camp at all age groups.
      11. Player Selection Committee
      a. The Player Selection Committee shall consist of the following:
      · Field Marshall
      · Head Evaluator
      · A minimum of 3 independent evaluators
      · Independent Executive Member (to act as an Administrator only)
      · Streamed Team Coaches
      · Age Group Coordinator from age group other than his/her own, (to act as an Administrator only)
Club officials, including Technical Directors, Deputy Technical Directors, Age Group Coordinators, Independent evaluators or otherwise shall not be deemed to have "a conflict of interest" with the age group they are evaluating.
      b. The selection committee shall evaluate all of the participants and attempt to rank them in order of their evaluation camp results.
      c. The results of the selection camp shall be posted on the NVLGSA website following evaluation camps. NVLGSA select team coaches or Age Group Coordinators require a firm decision and commitment from the selected player within 24 hours of being posted. Players will be informed on their successful qualification within 48 hours after the end of the evaluation camp.
The Age Group Coordinator will notify the remainder of the players that they will be placed on their team from the previous year or a new team formed as a result of the selection process.
Once a player has accepted the offer to join a NVLGSA streamed team then he may not at a later date be evaluated by and accept a spot at any other soccer club.
      d. All eligible players must make themselves available by telephone following evaluation camps or risk losing their spot on the team.
      e. Once teams are finalized, phone, email or another acceptable means of communication will be used to notify all remaining evaluation camp participants.
      f. During the selection process, the selection committee will form a short list of alternate players and goalkeepers (U-12 through U-18), which shall be used to fill any vacancies created by vacating selected players.
Streamed team coaches shall not have the right to reject players selected to their team by the evaluators.
      11. Streamed Team Composition
Streamed teams shall consist of a minimum of 12 players.
If two or more players are tied with the same number of evaluation points, the tie breaker will be previous NVLGSA player followed by Coach(s) decision on the ranking of the tied players.
      Alternate list
During the selection process, the selection committee will form a list of 6 alternate players, which shall be used to fill any vacancies created by "selected players" dropping out. If a player on the alternate list leaves the streamed team then the next ranked player or players shall be added to the alternate list. The alternate list shall be kept until the Age Group Coordinator has formed the other teams. Once the Age Group Coordinator has formed all the other teams the list shall be dissolved.
The player selection committee shall evenly divide all the selected players on the master list between however many streamed teams are decided upon for the season. Player distribution can best be described in the example below:
Assuming that there are four streamed teams, A, B, C and D. The top player is pick 1, next ranked player is 2 and so on…
      Team Player
      A 1
      B 2
      C 3
      D 4
      D 5
      C 6
      B 7
      A 8
      A 9
      B 10
      C 11
      D 12
D 13 etcetera until all the chosen number of streamed teams are full except the goalkeeper position.
This format differs from select teams and tries to ensure that all streamed teams are balanced and competitive with each other.
The Player Selection Committee must select 11 players for each streamed team. The 12th player selected must be the highest ranked goalkeeper or the 12th ranked player from the master list with demonstrated, reasonably good goalkeeping skills.
Up to 6 alternates must also be ranked for each streamed team. The Streamed Team Coach, at their discretion, and within one hour of being presented with the team and alternate lists by the technical director or deputy, may select up to 14 players for their team.
The Streamed Team Coach must select their 13th and/or 14th player from the list of 6 alternates provided. The 13th and/or 14th player selected shall be at the discretion of the Streamed Team Coach. The Streamed Team Coach will be required, within one hour of being presented with the team and alternate lists, to sign an acknowledgment for the total number of players requested.
All attempts must be made to distribute goalkeepers evenly among streamed teams.
      14. Replacement and Additional players
In exceptional circumstances, when a team needs to add a player to the roster, a coach may recommend a player to the Technical Director for consideration after evaluation camps are completed. The Technical Director will evaluate the circumstances and assess the player taking into consideration available players on the final selection list.
Players on a streamed team who do not show team commitment - by missing practices or games, or by demonstrating behavior that is not supportive to the team, may be moved to a non-streamed team. The streamed team coaches may make recommendations to the Technical Director who shall report to the NVLGSA board to make the final determinations.
      15. Youth to Youth Transfers
In order to create a squad situation, movement between the streamed teams up to January is permitted under the 4 District Soccer League Youth to Youth transfer policies. The NVLGSA will cover the transfer costs for these moves. A player may have up to 5 transfers in a season for regular season games only.
Youth to Youth transfers are designed as a tool to aid in player development and streamed team coaches are urged to make use of them.

      2009 Select Team Policy (U12-U18)
        ▲Top

      Introduction:
Most soccer clubs organize select teams as their lead representatives in inter-club competition. Being selected to these teams depends on both the player's technical skill and his ability to participate effectively as a team member. The selection process takes place after the end of regular season play and is open to all age-level players. Select teams are organized for the U-11 through U-18 age levels.

The North Vancouver Lions Gate Soccer Association "NVLGSA" typically has up to 3 select teams known as Capilano, Burrard and Lions for U-13 to U-18. The Capilanos are typically the most competitive select team followed by the Burrards, and if warranted the Lions. Select teams in U-12 Super 8 format differs in team names. These team names are reserved for the Club’s select gold and silver teams. The names were chosen in recognition of the First Nations heritage of our community. 'Capilano' and 'Burrard' are names strongly associated with our neighbourhood and remind us of Chief Joseph Capilano of the Squamish nation and the Burrard Indian Band. The ‘Lions’ are simply named after the famous and magnificent ‘Lions’ seen on the North Shore mountains.

NVLGSA requires the U-12 to U-18 select teams to enter Provincial A Cup or Provincial B Cup competition, the highest levels of competition for youth soccer in BC, to seek Provincial Championship status on behalf of the Club.

      Good luck to all participants.

Since the ultimate decision rests with the player we strongly encourage coaches, parents and players to consider the above statement before evaluation camps begin.

      Select Team Policy:

      1.     Select Team Formation

Select teams are currently formed through an evaluation camp process.

A copy of the letter, or note, must be delivered to the Technical Director two (2) weeks prior to the commencement of the first evaluation camp date for the player’s age group.

If no method of evaluation is available in that time frame, the player will not be placed on a select team. Injury and illness excuses will be accepted prior to and including the evaluation camp period.

Players injured or ill during the evaluation camp period may be considered for selection if they have participated in a previous select evaluation camp and have been evaluated by their previous Coach, the NVLGSA technical director and the NSSDC head coach, or a combination of the two.

The NVLGSA Board may place a player on a select team any time up to the deadline for transfer according to BCSA Rules (Rule 7 - Player Transfers), where exceptional circumstances exist. A player will only be placed on a team if that team has less than 18 players. NVLGSA Board may also require an independent evaluation of a player to determine the player’s level of play.

No select team shall be formed if a minimum of 12 players for U-12 to U-18 rated at select level cannot be found. Also, if there are fewer than 20 players involved in an evaluation camp, then at the discretion of the board, with input from the evaluators, a select team may not be formed. The remaining players are dispersed onto existing teams or form a new team.

      2. Player Registration

In order to be eligible to compete for a position on a select NVLGSA soccer team, a player must be registered with NVLGSA and may not be concurrently registered with another soccer club. Every player must pay the evaluation camp fee. This fee must be paid prior to entering the field of play on the first day of evaluation camps.

      3. Eligible Age

The “U” in U-12 to U-18 refers to “under”. U-12 is the under 12 year old player category in the first year of the season. A player may not be more than one year less in age than the category nor the same age or older than the category in the first year of the season. For example, a player with his 14th birthday in 2007 is eligible to participate in the U-15 evaluation camp for the 2007/2008 season in the NVLGSA.

Currently, all NVLGSA U-12 to U-18 teams play in the 4 District Soccer League. This league membership includes the North Shore, Vancouver, Burnaby and Richmond. North Shore teams can range as far as the Sunshine Coast and Whistler.

      4. Number of Select Teams

The NVLGSA board of directors determines the number of select teams to be formed for an age group for one season.

      11 Versus 11 Format Teams:

11 V. 11 format teams are the U-13 to U-18 teams. NVLGSA may select two teams at each age level and where deemed viable by a team of independent evaluators, a third team may be formed subject to approval by the board of directors. All select teams are expected to be able to perform competitively at the Silver 1 level or above.

NVLGSA will name its most competitive team the "Capilano". The "Burrard" name shall be assigned to either the second gold team or Silver 1 level team. If warranted, a third team called ‘Lions’ and a fourth team called the “Whitecaps” may be assigned to Silver 1.

      Super 8 Format Teams:

The Super 8 format is new for the 2007/2008 season. NVLGSA may organize three select teams at the U-12 age level. When deemed viable by a team of independent evaluators, one or two more teams may be formed subject to approval by the board of directors. All select teams are expected to be able to perform at a select level comparable to other districts.

NVLGSA will name its Super 8 select teams in descending order, Capilano, Burrard, Lions and Whitecaps.

      5. Select Program Information Package and Fees

      6. Select Team Camp Evaluators.

The NVLGSA board is responsible for approval of all select team camp evaluators.

The evaluator to player ratio shall ideally be 1 evaluator per 10-12 players.

The evaluation team may consist of:

      - 1/3 professional evaluators.
      - 1/3 independent evaluators from outside the club.
      - 1/3 evaluators are successful select team coach candidates or selected evaluators from different age groups within the NVLGSA.

Each Select Team Coach will have the option of carrying a 17th player for U-13 to U-18 or a 13th player for U-12 if that selection is their son. This provision is necessary to ensure the best possible coaching candidate is selected.

      7. The Age Group Coordinators

The roles of Age Group Coordinators at select team evaluation camps.

      8. Select Team Evaluation Camp Dates

U-12 and U-13 initial evaluation camps are normally completed by late March to early April.
U-14 to U-18 initial evaluation camps shall normally be completed in the April to June timeframe.

      ·       Independent Evaluators - shall be responsible for assessing and evaluating eligible players, following select evaluation camp guidelines and rules. The Technical Director in conjunction with the NSSDC shall assign a minimum of three independent evaluators per age group.

      ·       The Technical Director or Deputy, Field Marshal or Independent Board Member or their Designate – shall oversee the evaluation camp process and ensure that all evaluation camp policies and processes are adhered to.

The select guidelines and rules are explained to all the evaluators at the beginning of the evaluation camp.

      10. Select Team Player Selection Criteria

Player selection shall be based on the evaluation of each player’s skill level, athletic ability and playing ability for all age groups (U-12 to U-18). Player selection is not based on position except at the goalkeeper position. Voluntary goalkeeper assessments are a part of the evaluation camp at all age groups.

      11. Player Selection Committee

      a. The Player Selection Committee shall consist of the following:

      ·       Field Marshall
      ·       Head Evaluator
      ·       A minimum of 3 independent evaluators
      ·       Independent Executive Member (to act as an Administrator only)
      ·       Select Team Coaches

      b. The selection committee shall evaluate all of the participants and attempt to rank them in order of their evaluation camp results on a master list.

Select team coaches shall not have the right to reject players selected to their team by the evaluators.

      11. Select Team Composition

Select teams shall consist of a minimum of 16 players for 11 V 11 format teams.
Select teams shall consist of a minimum of 12 players for Super 8 format teams.

If a player on the alternate list leaves the select team then the next ranked player or players shall be added to the alternate list. The alternate list shall be kept until the Age Group Coordinator has formed the other teams. Once the Age Group Coordinator has formed all the other teams the list shall be dissolved.

      11 V 11 Format Teams (U-13 to U-18):

The Player Selection Committee shall select the first 16 players on the master list for the Capilano team and the next 16 players for the Burrard team. If the selection committee determines that another competitive team can be formed from the evaluation camp participants the next 16 players on the master list shall be selected to the third team.

The Player Selection Committee must select 15 players for each select team. The 16th player selected must be the highest ranked goalkeeper or the 16th ranked player from the master list with demonstrated, reasonably good goalkeeping skills.

Up to 6 alternates must also be ranked for each select team. The Select Team Coach, at their discretion, and within one hour of being presented with the team and alternate lists by the technical director or deputy, may select up to 18 players for their team.

The Select Team Coach must select their 17th and/or 18th players from the list of 6 alternates provided. The 17th and/or 18th players selected shall be at the discretion of the Select Team Coach. The Select Team Coach shall be required, within one hour of being presented with the select team and alternate lists, to sign an acknowledgment for the total number of players requested.

All attempts must be made to distribute goalkeepers evenly among select teams.

      Super 8 Format Teams (U-12):

The Super 8 format is new for the 2007/2008 season U-12 team. The player selection committee shall select the first 12 players on the master list for the first team and the next 12 player for the second team and the next 12 players for the third team. If the selection committee determines that more competitive teams can be formed as a result of the evaluations camp, then the above mentioned process shall continue to create one or two more teams.

The Player Selection Committee must select 11 players for each select team. The 12th player selected must be the highest ranked goalkeeper or the 12th ranked player from the master list with demonstrated, reasonably good goalkeeping skills.

Up to 6 alternates must also be ranked for each select team. The Select Team Coach, at their discretion, and within one hour of being presented with the team and alternate lists by the technical director or deputy, may select up to 14 players for their team.

The Select Team Coach must select their 13th and/or 14th player from the list of 6 alternates provided. The 13th and/or 14th player selected will be at the discretion of the Select Team Coach. All attempts must be made to distribute goalkeepers evenly among select teams.

      13. Annual Evaluations

Any NVLGSA players wishing to play for a select team must attend an evaluation camp every year in hopes of qualifying.

Coaches wishing to coach a select team must apply every year in hopes of qualifying.

In order to ensure that our players achieve the highest level at which they are capable we require suitably qualified coaches. Therefore, applicants are encouraged to contact their Age Group Coordinator or another member of the evaluation committee by no later than January 31 to indicate their interest in a coaching position. Applicants must submit their resume outlining their coaching experience, qualifications and coaching philosophy to the Technical Director by February 14 for the upcoming season.

Under the guidance of the Technical Director and feedback from NSSDC, the NVLGSA Board of Directors will appoint the coaches for all select teams. Successful candidates do not have to have a son selected to the team. Candidates must have the required coaching certification proficiency level, which is a minimum of Community Coaching Youth and/or Community Coaching Senior certificates.

Players on a select team who do not show team commitment - by missing practices or games, or by demonstrating behavior that is not supportive to the team, may be moved to a non-select team. The select team coaches may make recommendations to the Technical Director who shall report to the NVLGSA board to make the final determinations.

      15. Youth to Youth Transfers

In order to create a squad situation, movement between the select teams up to January is permitted under the 4 District Soccer League Youth to Youth transfer policies. The NVLGSA will cover the transfer costs for these moves. A player may have up to 5 transfers in a season for regular season games only. No transfers are permitted for any cup tournament games.

Youth to Youth transfers are designed as a tool to aid in player development and select team coaches are urged to make use of them.
