How to Book a Field

Any coach wishing to book a field should follow these guidelines.
  • Contact NV Recreation Commission at 604-983-6318 or see their Park & Field Booking page on their website
  • No teams are allowed to practice on GRASS fields over the summer
  • Artificial Turf fields can be rented for $24.00/hr (full field) or $12.00/hr (half field).
  • Three (3) artificial turf fields are available: William Griffin, Confederation and Sutherland (NEW).
  • For practices during March and April, a couple of all weather fields are available to our club, free of charge, on a first-come first-serve basis – see “Practice Fields – April” on our website. North Shore Youth Soccer Association pays for these fields for use by all North Vancouver soccer clubs. This is done mainly to help teams that wish to prepare for the Evaluation Camps. These fields are typically available until the end of April.
  • For practices during off season (May through August), all weather fields, and artificial turf fields, may be booked by individual teams, through North Van Rec Commission (ph. 604-983-6318) at a cost of $2.00 per hour, per gravel field (plus GST), whether it's shared with other teams or not. Please note: the fee is as of April 2008, and will be confirmed at the time of booking. The field levy that each player pays (part of registration fee) only covers the regular season.
  • Elementary school fields are also available for booking through North Van Rec Commission, free of charge.

Field Lining Procedures

Pee Wee Field Lining Procedures

  • Each age group is assigned one field liner at the beginning of the season.
  • The age group coordinator will pick up the field liner from the liner manager and will schedule 1 team per week to line all of that age group’s HOME fields (usually 3 or 4) for that week. (It is left at the discretion of each team to decide if one family lines all fields or if different families line different fields.
  • Team 1 will pick up the liner from the age group coordinator and the whiting compound from the ELDON shed and lines all required fields for that week. TEAM 1 will store the liner for that week and will phone TEAM 2 to remind them they are scheduled for the next week and let them know where they can pick up the liner.
  • Week 2, TEAM 2 will pick up the liner from TEAM 1 and whiting compound from Eldon and lines all required fields for week 2…..and so on……
  • At the end of the season, the liner will be returned to the Eldon Shed on a specified "Return" day for all age groups. Check the website calendar for this date.

Divisional Field Lining Procedures

  • Each age group is assigned one field liner at the beginning of the season.
  • The age group coordinator will recruit a volunteer to be the "KEEPER" of the liner for the season.
  • The KEEPER will store the liner at their house.
  • Each week, any team needing a liner will contact the KEEPER and book out a liner. As soon as the field is lined, the liner is returned to the KEEPER’s house. Minimize the time you keep a liner. There is only one for your age group and there is another team waiting to use it.
  • All whiting compound can be picked up at the Eldon shed.
  • At the end of the season, the liner will be returned to the Eldon Shed on a specified "Return" day for all age groups. Check the website calendar for this date.

Some common rules for both Pee Wee and Divisional teams to follow:

  1. All Whiting Compound for the field liners will be kept at the Eldon Park Shed.
  2. Return liner empty. Once a field has been lined use up any whiting compound contained in the liner by retracing over the established lines. Damp powder will clog the machines.
  3. Return partial bags of whiting compound to the storage facility.
  4. Dispose of empty bags only in the garbage facilities available at each site. Waste not! Want not!
  5. If you find a Lions Gate liner in the wrong place, please take it home and call your age group coordinator to let him/her know you have found one. If you cannot transport it yourself, please call the Liner Manager and he will arrange for pick up.
  6. Report any problems with the liners to the Liner Manager.
